Prizes awarded during the NMC

The following prizes were awarded during the NMC in April (see also the NMC programme for additional details:

The triennial N.G. de Bruijn Prize was awarded to Lennart Meier for his joint work with Markus Land, Akhil Mathew and Georg Tamme. Lennart delivered the corresponding De Bruijn lecture at the NMC. Honorable mentions were for Martin Bright for his work with Rachel Newton and for Peter Grünwald, Rianne de Heide and Wouter Koolen.

The Stieltjes Prize for the best mathematical dissertation in the 2023-2024 academic year has two winners: Leonardo Garcia-Heveling (Radboud University) and Pim Spelier (Leiden University). The winners gave a talk on their work.

The Indagationes Mathematicae best paper award was won by Robbert Fokkink, Dan Rust and Ville Salo. A lecture on this work was given by Dan Rust.

The KWG PhD prize was won by Alain Chavarri Villarello (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam).

There were three prizes to be awarded at the poster session:
- First prize: Riya Dogra (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), "Topology of Molecular Braids",
- Second prize: Niek Mooij (Utrecht University), "Coexistence in large systems of competing ODEs",
- Third prize: Corijn Rudrum (University College London), "Non-abelian Selmer group Chabauty for the S-unit equation".

The Pythagorasprijs for the best profielwerkstuk ('high school thesis') was awarded to:
- First prize: Tobias Crommelin and Dylan Spence, "Nooit meer een briefje halen",
- Second prize: Femke Maat, "SET!",
- Third prize: Elise van der Sanden and Janneke Bax, "De Creatie van de Crazy Chroma Challenge".
