3. Call for PhD Project Proposals (DIAMANT)

Dear Diamant members,

Near the end of April, NWO is planning to have a national "closed call" for PhD project proposals in Mathematics. Each awarded PhD position will be paid for 50% by NWO, and for 50% by the receiving university/institute.

All proposals will have to be filed through the clusters. Each of the 4 mathematics clusters (Diamant, STAR, GQT, NDNS) may submit at most 4 proposals to NWO. Of the resulting at most 16 proposals that NWO will receive in this manner, NWO will award at most 8.

We would like to invite you to submit suitable PhD proposals in this round, related to themes within the Diamant cluster.

Your proposals should include:

- a project description of maximal 1 page A4;
- a CV of the projected supervisor;
- a letter from the receiving institute stating that it will cover 50% of the salary expenses for the projected PhD candidate.

Please submit your proposal(s) BEFORE APRIL 15 2017 to Robin de Jong.

After the deadline of 15 April, a Diamant committee will consider all submitted proposals, and will select (at most) 4 out of them to be sent through to NWO. The Diamant committee will at least consist of the Diamant board (see below) and a representative from NWO.

Best regards,
the Diamant board,
Bart de Smit (UL, chair), Karen Aardal (TUD), Ronald Cramer (UL/CWI),
Tanja Lange (TU/e), Ben Moonen (RU).
