Mededelingen van het Bestuur
============================
Dear all,

I hereby warmly recommend to you the upcoming 53rd Netherlands Mathematical Congress (NMC 2017),
which will be held at Utrecht Science Park on April 11 and 12, 2017.

The scientific and organizing committees have worked hard to organise a fine programme, which includes
plenary lectures by Henry Cohn, Jos Leys, and Konstantin Mischaikow. Semi-plenary lectures are given by
Dion Gijswijt, Nelly Litvak, Natasha Maurits, and Bob Rink.

Moreover, there will be seven minisymposia (GQT, STAR, Optimization, Scien?tific Computing, Rationals Points, NDNS+,
Stieltjesprijs Symposium by Wonder)with invited speakers, as well as a poster session. A special ?Do?centendag
(Teachers day) is organised on the second day.

This year the Brouwer medal will be awarded to Kenneth A. Ribet (UC Berkeley), for his groundbreaking contributions
to number theory.

His plenary lecture is scheduled on April 11, 2017 from 16:30 to 17:30. Lecture and ceremony will be followed by a
reception at the conference venue.

The evening programme consists of a conference dinner in the University's Academy Building at Domplein.

For more information and details see the conference website and in parti?cular the program booklet with titles and abstracts.

I hope that you will decide to profit from the EXTENDED EARLY BIRD

REGISTRATION, which will close by March 18, 2017. And do not forget to register in time for the CONFERENCE DINNER
(deadline also 18 March).

Last but not least we hope that many of you will decide to contribute a poster for the POSTER SESSION on the second
day (see registration form).

We look forward to seeing many of you at the conference.

With best wishes,

on behalf of the Dutch Mathematical Society

and the organizing committee,

Erik van den Ban

President KWG.
