Australian National University, Canberra

Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Number Theory, Cryptography, Computational Algebraic Geometry & Combinatorics

The Mathematical Sciences Institute at the Australian National University is seeking to invigorate its research and teaching profile in the areas of number theory (analytic, algebraic and computational), cryptography (classical and quantum), computational algebraic geometry and/or combinatorics. We wish to fill a full-time, continuing position at the Academic Level B or Level C (which equates to the position of Associate Professor within the United States of America). The MSI is strongly committed to improving the gender balance amongst staff and students.  Women are strongly encouraged to apply.

You will be joining an internationally recognised leading team of academics with a focus on achieving excellence in research and teaching. The Institute comprises approximately fifty academics, within nine mathematical research programs.

Applicants are expected to have an outstanding record in research, teaching and administration relevant to the level of their application.

The position will involve teaching specialised courses in algebra and number theory and/or standard mathematics undergraduate courses, but this may be at a reduced level for several years.

Enquiries should be directed to Professor Peter Bouwknegt, Director ? MSI, director.msi@anu.edu.au

Fore more information, see the website.

Mathematical Institute UU

The following position is vacant at the Mathematical Institute of Utrecht University:

Tenure-track Assistant Professor of Mathematics in the Division of Fundamental Mathematics

We are searching for candidates whose expertise is in algebraic topology, differential topology, or (higher) category theory; or in related areas in algebra, algebraic geometry, or mathematical logic.

The appointment is at the level of assistant professor, initially for a period of 5 years. The position is partially funded by the Spinoza grant of Prof dr I. Moerdijk. In case of positive evaluations, the position becomes permanent after 5 years. In exceptional cases, the higher rank of associate professor is negotiable.
